Public weekly Fair

Public weekly fair of Angunakolapalessa and Debokkawa are the major income source of Pradeshiya Sabha of Angunakolapalessa. Right of recovering taxes of these two weekly fairs is offered to external party through the annual procurement procedure. 
 
Majority of people about 70% in the area are depend on the agriculture. Paddy cultivation takes priority while other vegetable, fruits and chena cultivation has become the main livelihood . These vegetable and fruits of different type are brought to weekly fair which is held in the town of Angunakolapalessa while some people go to Debokkawa fair with their agricultural products.
 
 
Public weekly fair of Angunakolapalessa
 
Angunakolapalessa weekly fair is the main venue to which people living in Angunakolapalessa area come to sell their agricultural products and buy various things needed for their daily life. Based on the town of angunakolapalessa, two retail fair (Sunday and Wednesday) and two whole sale fair (Tuesday and Saturday) are held. Except farmers and people in the area, some traders from other areas come to this fair to buy some farming products at whole sale prices. Weekly fair of Angunakolapalessa is consisted of about 600 businessmen, 450 trade boutiques, 12 textile shops and 10 botique rooms fom which the Sabha recovers monthly taxes and a canteen. Further vehicle park close to the fair is another source of taxes.
 
 
Debokkawa weekly fair
 
Whole sale fair of Debokkawa public weekly fair is held at 4.00 a.m. on every Wednesday while retail fair is held on every Thursday. There are about 450 traders and four boutique rooms from which the Sabha recovers taxes.
