Building Applications

Legal Authority

  • In case any land has been declared as a "Urban developed area" under section 3 of Urban Development Authority Act No.41 of 1978, Part  II (a) of Urban Development Athority Act NO 41 of 1978 is applied to such area.

     

  • Regulations enacted by the Minister through Gazette Extra Ordinary No. 392 / 9 dated 10th March 1986

     

  • In case any land has not been declared as a "Urban developed area" under section 3 of Urban Development Authority Act No.41 of 1978, sections 5 and 6 of Housing and Urban Development Act of 1951 is applied to such area.

 

Documents to be submitted

 

  • Duly filled application

     

  • Three copies of the building plan (Blue prints)

     

  • Deed, Permit or any other acceptable document to prove the posseeion

     

  • A copy of the survey plan 

     

  • Duly filled sub division application

     

    (Allotments less than 6 perches should not be blocked out. In sub division containing in extent over 0.5 hectare, it should be attested by an Architect)

 

Process in obtaining the permit

 

  • Obtaining an application for the buliding permit
  • Handing over the duly filled application along awith required documents to the officer concerned.

  • charging afee for further processing

  • Registration of the application 
  • Field visit by the Technical Officer
  • Recommendation from the Technical Officer
  • Geting the report of public health officer

  • Submit to planing commitee and obtain the approval
  • Issuing licence the chairman of Pradeshiya Sabha

Canceling building licence

Period of one year. Can extension for two year under section 10 (6) of 41 urban development authority act 1978
